The Harvest (Day 2: Evening Session II)

REV. DR. ODUN ORIOKE

GOD CAN USE YOU

I CORINTHIANS 1:26-30:” For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption”;

MARK 5:20: “And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.”

We should all understand that there is a call of God upon our lives and it is a glorious call. God can use you more than you can imagine because in every season, He looks for people to use in partnership with Jesus to destroy the devil’s works. Moses wanted to dodge the call of God upon his life but God would not let him off. He tried to hide under his speech impediment but God would not take ‘no’ for an answer. Your life can be wasted if you are not aware of the call of God over your life. Your being here today shows that heaven is drawing you in the glorious purpose.

In Scriptures, God used all manners of people and things for his purpose: He made a prostitute called Rahab a matriarch of Jesus Christ; He used a donkey to rebuke a rebellious Prophet Balaam; He used a stick to make an axe float; He used mantles to heal the sick; He used a rod to part the Red Sea; He used a raven to feed Elijah in the time of famine; etc. You cannot be too bad or too good; too silly or too important, too rich or too poor; too highly placed or too lowly placed; too weak or too strong; too ugly or too beautiful; too intelligent or too dull for God to use you. All you need do is yield yourself to Him.

Everywhere we find ourselves is a mission field. We must make it a point of duty to continue laboring on people around us until they surrender their lives to Christ. Start from the people close to you. If you cannot save the people close to you, you will likely not be able to save people far from you. Anywhere God puts you, you have to know that you have been sent as a missionary to the mission field. Start from your immediate family and your office and then you can extend the tentacles to other places. We don’t need to be ordained ministers before we can bring others to Christ. You may not be an evangelist but you can be an evangelizer.

We should be ready to challenge authority. In order to do that, we need to be hardworking and polite. Nobody is too tough to be led to Christ. It was unbelievable that Saul of Tarsus could be won over to Christ.

Everybody is useful in the house of God except those who want to be willingly useless. Everyone can fit in somewhere. It does not take education or status to be used by God. All that is required is the offering of ourselves to God. God requires the offering of yourself. Continue to consecrate and offer yourself if you want Him to continually use you; the more you want God to use you, the more you keep offering yourself.
