The Burden Of The Lord

praying intently / the man communes with his God / desperate for his love

Romans 5:20(KJV): “20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound”;

If we really want to draw the resources of God, we need to engage in the main interest of God, which is saving the lost soul. We must take it as a personal responsibility, unsaved people are in our offices, schools and neighbourhood. God is instructing us to reach out to the unsaved and we are not meant to go with a sense of servitude, but with a sense of fellowship. This is done by taking God’s concern as ours and taking His burdens as ours. The question now is “Are we open enough to take up the concerns of the Lord?”

“Come to me, all ye that labour and labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28;

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God”

James 2:23;

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”

John 15:13-15;

Abraham was called the friend of God because he was able to carry the burden of God. God has called us into becoming His friends because servants are not aware of what the master is doing, but a friend is aware and should be able to take up the burden of the other. And the only way to take away our earthly burden from us is to replace it with the burden of the Lord. The point where Jesus wants to take us into is the point of friendship.

 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

Genesis 18:19;

Abraham was also called the friend of God because he could command and influence his children and household after God. We should sincerely desire that God would make our life a life of positive influence in whatever sphere we could influence.
