Seek first the Kingdom

PASTOR OLUWASEYI OSANYINBI
JAMES 3:1-18

+There is always a longing in people to show off what they know. We must be careful not to teach things which we do not have the competence to teach. We do not have to teach things simply because we have information on them.

+We must understand the dynamics and nuances of the things we teach. Otherwise, we will put ourselves and our followers in trouble.

+We must restrain ourselves from teaching until we are able to rightly divide the word of truth. It is very dangerous to assume a position God has not called us into.

+Every man will be judged based how he handles sacred things. We have to be accurate and precise in handling God’s things. If you assume a role when you are not called or you do not respond when you are called, you will be judged.

+Our thought life is a very critical compartment of our lives. We easily offend in words because our thoughts are intrinsically evil. We need new hearts, not refurbished ones. The heart is a fountain of whatever we produce.

JAMES 3:13
+The proof that we have a new heart is that we demonstrate the wisdom of God. A wise man endued with the knowledge of the Holy One shows his works out of a good conversation with meekness of wisdom.

+Our boasting should be based on our knowledge of God not the ephemeral things we can lay claim to. Hopelessness is not knowing God. (Ephesians 2:12).

JAMES 3:14-, EZEKIEL 28:12-16
+Satan became envious of God. By the multitude of his merchandise, that is, his thoughts, he became filled with violence.

+We have to guard our hearts with all diligence. Evil thoughts in our hearts are indications of the fact that we are not on guard.

+We have to continually screen the thoughts that come into our hearts so that evil will not thrive. The quality of decisions we make are determined by the quality of thoughts that get into our hearts.

+The wisdom from above is pure, innocent, undefiled, peace-loving, courteous, considerate, gentle, willing to yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits, wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned. It is free from doubts, wavering and insincerity.

+The harvest of righteousness, that is, conformity to God’s will in thought and deed, is the fruit of the seed sown in peace by those who work for and make peace.

+Thoughts are structures that are built. That’s why we have to cast down imaginations and uproot the roots of bitterness.

+Walking in the Spirit is not magical. It has a whole lot to do with our minds and thoughts.
