[biblegateway passage=”Genesis 1: 1 – 3″ display=”Genesis 1: 1 – 3″]
In the beginning, the earth was void, without form and in darkness, but when God began to speak, creation came to be. When God spoke, things arranged and began to take shape and order. However, God didn’t speak until His Spirit moved. There is a connection between the hovering of the Spirit of God and the proceedings of God’s word. There are certain atmospheres that precede the speakings of God, and one of such is the brooding of the Holy Spirit. God will not speak outside the governing environment of His Spirit. When the Spirit of God is not allowed to have His way, the word of God will be scarce. The word of God would only go forth when the Holy Spirit is allowed to have His cause.
[biblegateway passage=”Deuteronomy 32: 9 – 12″ display=”Deuteronomy 32: 9 – 12″]
God didn’t meet already established people here. What the Holy Ghost did in Genesis is a typical example of what He did like an eagle to Israel in order to bring them to order.
Before God spoke, the earth was in a raw and crude form, in its undeveloped and unprocessed state. Though the earth was in existence, it was not with any value until God spoke.
[biblegateway passage=”Jeremiah 18: 2 -10″ display=”Jeremiah 18: 2 -10″]
The essence of formation is to achieve reality from something that was once a concept. God can even reveal His purposes and plans to us, but it will still be formless. There has to be a deliberate process of formation before those promises of God can become a reality. If the formative work is not properly done, it will never become a reality. We are not supposed to stop at just having ideas and concepts, we should aim at following the formative process to give form and fulfilment to our dreams. Been fulfilled means to actually realize all the dreams and aspirations that we actually have. The process of forming is the gap between actually achieving something and just having it as a goal or a dream.
We all have a sense of satisfaction. If we are not fulfilled, we will be empty. Paul was a man who was fulfilled ([biblegateway passage=”2Timothy 4: 7″ display=”2Timothy 4: 7″]). It is my belief that it is the intention of God that by the time we are living the earth, we are not regretting that we have wasted our time. It is possible for us to be fulfilled.
And note that the earth was also in the darkness. Darkness doesn’t only mean evil, darkness also implies ignorance (a state of unawareness). One of the things that describes a natural man is ignorance and unawareness to the spiritual happenings around him ([biblegateway passage=”Ecclesiastes 9: 11 – 12″ display=”Ecclesiastes 9: 11 – 12″]; [biblegateway passage=”Matthew 24: 37 – 39″ display=”Matthew 24: 37 – 39″]). Knowledge is supposed to be progressive. We are not supposed to be ignorant of what is supposed to happen.
We do not need to be in any of these 3 conditions, else we will only be in a crude form like the earth was before God spoke. In this life, we are not supposed to just have desires. We can have all the intentions of the Lord fulfilled in our lives and also all our desires come to pass. All we need is to do is to be in a position where the Spirit of God can stay and hence the birthing of the word of God.
We must learn to create an atmosphere of the Spirit so that the word of God can come forth into our lives to bring the formation to our lives.
