The Place of Wisdom in Receiving God’s Glory

22ND FEBRUARY 2022

Minister: Pst. Joshua Akinsusi

Numbers 14:20-23; Habakkuk 2:14
We all know that the glory of God is not just about material things. However, we need a paradigm shift to internalise what God really sees as glory so that we know, for sure, what we are longing for.
What is glory?
Glory is about dignity, worship, adoration, admiration, weight, splendour, honour, etc. People like to go to certain destinations in the world because they are awe-inspiring. Glory evokes beauty and magnificence.
What is God’s intention about His glory?
God wants all the earth to be filled with His glory. This intention has been from before time began.
Exodus 31:1-10
There is a connection between God’s glory and His wisdom as well as our desires. For God to release His glory upon anything, it must be what he has worked upon in His wisdom. If wisdom has not done its work, there cannot be glory (Proverbs 3:35; 4:7-9).
Exodus 39:42,43; 40:33,34
There were two expressions of God’s glory among the children of Israel: the one on Moses’ face and the one that rested on the tabernacle. God gave His wisdom to wise-hearted men like Bezalel and Aholiab to build the tabernacle whose pattern God gave Moses. Each time God was about to move among the Israelites, His glory rested on the tabernacle.
Hebrews 3:1-3; John 17:1, 5, 24
Moses had intimidating glory, however, Jesus is bestowed with infinitely more glory. Jesus’ glory has been before the world began. It is such an honour that God wants to share His timeless glory with man. Interestingly, He is eager to share it with us but we must walk in the path of wisdom to facilitate it.
1 Corinthians 3:10; 2:7-9; Ephesians 3:13; Colossians 1:25-28
Enhanced by God’s grace, Paul was able to lay a foundation on which he enjoined everyone else to build on. We have to be careful the way we build on the foundation so that God’s glory can rest on it when it’s all done.
Everything that happens in the Church should culminate in glory. That we have Christ in us, we have the capacity for God’s glory. To actualize the hope of glory that we carry, we need to build wisely, layer upon layer. The glory of God is hidden from the heathens but it has been revealed to us.
The workings of wisdom include warnings to keep us in check and teachings to enlighten us in all wisdom.
Ephesians 1:16-18
Our hearts need to be flooded with light so that we can know the import of the riches of God’s glory. God is eager to fill the earth with His glory but it takes His wisdom for the glory to be revealed in us.
