The band of the Apostles were not just randomly selected individuals. They were a people who believed in God and were confident in Him. The Pharisees and Sadducee simply saw Jesus as a leader of a sect, but Jesus clearly told them to believe him as they believe God. We humans have been trained to have faith in what we see and are in line with reasoning, but God wants us to begin to have faith in what we don’t see.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:2
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:”
Ephesians 1:3
The mansions Jesus said he was going to prepare for us are places, revelations, understandings and dealings in God. For every control move we make in the dealings of God, there are rooms we begin to occupy and treasure rooms we have access to through Jesus.
“Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?”
John 14:5
After Jesus spoke about the place he was going to prepare for us, Thomas questioned him that they don’t know where Jesus was going. Then Jesus described himself as the way to the Father. The whole essence of our life is to return to the Father. And if we don’t attain this position after our years on earth, we have shortchanged ourselves.
“Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”
Genesis 3:23-24
When Adam and Eve fell, they were shun away from the tree of life. The tree of life mentioned in Genesis was the Father himself. Two Cherubims were appointed to the tree to guard the way to the Father. Throughout the Old Testament, the angels were practically the custodians of the way to the Father.
The new way to the Father is now the person of Jesus. Certain parents even block their children from knowing God. Parents should ensure that they always create an atmosphere that invites the Holy Spirit around their children, so that they don’t later become children of perdition.
It is a different thing to be speaking the truth. It is even very easy to create a facade of righteousness, but in there the internal configuration can actually be wickedness. Jesus is not just a speaker of truth, He is the truth.
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”
Colossians 1:13
“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Romans 5:2
We need these three aspects of Jesus (the way, truth, and the life) to reach the Father. To walk in the way, it is through grace that will teach us how to resist and say no to unrighteousness. We need to gain access to the way. Next, we must meet Jesus who will translate us into truth. Like Paul, his lifestyle became a gospel after he encountered Jesus as the way.
Eternal life is not the same as everlasting life. Eternal life is a life that cannot sin. For instance, God cannot sin. Every being (angel and humans) technically doesn’t die. Lucifer himself does not possess immortality. Life is that which enables you manifest yourself. It is that kind of life that will make us not to revenge or not divorce your wife. No dog struggles to bark, likewise, anyone with God’s kind of life doesn’t struggle to manifest the life.
It is even possible to have him as the way, the truth and not even as the life. It is even possible for us to organize a way and think we know the truth, but it does not still brings man to the Father.
Jesus as the way, the truth and the life are personalities of Jesus that are not mutually exclusive and independent. We have to completely interface Jesus on these three levels before we can be guaranteed to return to the Father.
