HE KNOWS YOUR NAME

PASTOR (MRS) JENNIFER DAWODU (GREATER WORKS MINISTRIES)

The only thing that can fill a man’s soul is God. The capacity of the soul is so massive that only God can fill it. Money, materials and achievements cannot fill the soul. God has come as our God. He knows our name. He is coming in a different manner. He is coming in a big way regardless of the circumstances. He sees our struggles and He identifies with us.

Moses got to a point where he thought it was all over as far as the deliverance of Israel was concerned but God appeared to Him and he discovered that his journey was just beginning. Moses was told to remove his shoes at the place of the burning bush. Some have come to practise this in the literal sense but we must understand that it is symbolic for us today. Moses had come into a realm where God had to take his right (his shoes) away. He had come into a level of consecration where he could no longer hold to his human rights. He had come to the holy ground.

The holy ground is a place where hidden leprosies are revealed. It is the place where certain things are no longer taken from granted. We must steadily consecrate ourselves to God such that every hidden thing will be unveiled. The holy ground is a place of cleansing. It is a place where leprosies are cleaned. Leprosy represents hidden sins; it connotes sins that are not yet forsaken. Many ministers today are ministering with leprous hands and as such they minister death to the people.

The holy ground is a place of no reputation. Self and identity dies at the holy ground. Carnality and self esteem are dealt with. Human strength is swallowed. Moses was a privileged child; he had the best kind of exposure in his days and he had strength. At the holy ground, his reputation was seriously battered. His royal robe had worn out, his strength had waned and he was broke. He was tending the sheep of his father in law. Finally, when God came he was so broken that he was willing to do His biddings. If we must follow God today, we must reckon ourselves as having nothing. Our greatness and credibility before people should no longer matter if we must follow God.

Moses, at 80, faced an uncertain future as he was set to follow God. Old men are difficult to convince but Moses chose to move with God against all odds. We will never be too old to answer God’s call.
