Text: Genesis 22:2
Our relationship with God is transactional. It is not always about God doing something for us, we must also imbibe the culture of bringing something to the table. His demands on us are doable; they are not beyond us especially because we always have His help in doing His will. Abraham had to pay an ultimate price as God tested him to know if he truly loved and trusted Him.
No man can truly fulfil the demands of God without obedience and true obedience unto God is made known by the way we obey instructions given unto us by our fellow men. To love God is not by mere words of mouth; it is shown in our obedience to Him.
We do not need to judge the Church because of the misdeeds of some denominations. It is important that we understand that our transaction is not with a denomination but with God. Therefore, we must be conscious of our actions.
Genesis 22:2, Hebrew 11:1
God does not assume on men; He tests them so as to know where their hearts truly lie. This was exactly the case with Abraham. God needed to know if He truly loved Him that was why He tested him with his son, Isaac. Enoch was another man who, with no antecedent, walked consistently with God without holding back.
True love for God is in giving. When we truly love God, nothing will be too big for us to release to Him whenever He places demands on them. This transactional act of giving is not an easy thing to do but it is a requirement to show our heart of love for God.
Romans 12:1
Service is not just about attending church; it is about what we do, what we give and how we spend our time and resources. It is in totally surrendering our lives unto God as an offering.
It becomes easier for us to give our totality unto God when we come to the realization that He is Lord over all things, our lives inclusive. This understanding will help us to give up whatsoever He requires of us.
