FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

PASTOR OLUWASEYI OSANYINBI

We don’t need to be murderers to be guilty of blood. We only have to be negligent of other people’s souls. We have to constantly work at maintaining the balance between caring for our souls and caring for the souls of others. We must not focus on one at the detriment of the other.

I TIMOTHY 6:10-12; JUDE 3

The faith is the complete revelation of the truth about the Kingdom of God. You can have faith to move mountains and not have the faith. God will reckon with people based on the faith not just faith to do unthinkable things. If we must stay true to our election, we have to flee the love of money and follow the faith. We fight the good fight of faith by following virtues like righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness. Without godly virtues we can’t lay hold upon eternal life. We have to be so committed to righteousness that we can die for it if need be. Righteousness is everything that is pleasing unto God. We must know the God we are dealing with so that we will not play dice with our souls. No matter what we do in church, we have a common destiny to lay hold of eternal life under God.

II TIMOTHY 4:7,8; I CORINTHIANS 9:27; PHILIPPIANS 3:8

Paul, without mincing words, said he fought the good fight and that he finished his course. We all have the mandate to check off everything on God’s checklist for our lives. We have to exhaust all that there is for us under God. Paul was not aimless in running his race. He did not fight without a focus. He fought with the right target in mind. We have a whole lot of trading to do so that we can acquire the excellency of the knowledge of Christ. We need to define what we want to become under God because that is what will activate God’s response to us.

MATTHEW 10:34-35

Jesus came to set the standard of righteousness. Anyone who subscribes to that standard will automatically be at variance with unrighteous people. There is no sitting on the fence here. Every time you take a stand outside righteous, you crucify Jesus.

MATTHEW 12:34

Jesus was not afraid to stand up to the unrighteous religious leaders of His days. They were far older than him. They had better ministry experience than him. However, he was not afraid to take them up when the need arose. We often come up with ideas like ‘touch not my anointed’ to not talk about the wrongs of big men of God. Jesus did not go that way. Every man of God should walk in the consciousness of the fact that he can be wrong and he should be willing to acknowledge when he is wrong. The reformation we all enjoy today would have been impossible if Martin Luther could not stand up to the revered authority of his days. He stood for righteousness and birthed a new order.
