TEXT: Matthew 16:28; 17:1

MINISTERING: Pst Dele Olubi

In the last teaching, we established that anywhere the will of God is done, the Kingdom of God is there. Today, we will see that God’s plan, purpose and intention is that everyone comes to know Him.

There is no way we will talk about knowing the Lord without mentioning the place of teaching. What we know is informed by what we are taught (1 Timothy 4:1). Every lifestyle is propagated by a particular pattern of teaching because even the Devil has his own teachings.

If the Devil has his own teachings, then it is pertinent for us to also be firm in the teaching of our Lord. When it comes to the matter of knowledge and doctrine, we cannot afford to be dull Christians. As much as the Holy Spirit is the one to teach us, we must also not neglect the use of our thinking faculty since God didn’t create us as robots.

God has always wanted to reveal Himself to man. As a result, He adopted various means of doing so over time. Nature cannot reveal the whole personality of God, it is only the Scripture that has the best and clear details.

There is a need to take new converts through the rudiments of faith. This can only be done through sound biblical doctrine. It is also essential to have sound biblical doctrine for clarification and consolidation purposes.

Sound doctrinal teaching is important in order to have the right application of the word in our daily lives. We also need sound teaching for the aversion of heresies. Moreso, sound biblical teaching helps to defend us in the face of attacks. We will not be able to do most of these things except we yield ourselves to the things we are taught.

There is a need to differentiate culture from what the Bible is saying and this can only be done when there is sound scriptural knowledge. Moreover, this is not one man’s responsibility, we all have to learn the scripture (1 Timothy 5:17). The Kingdom of God will not come until we are well grounded in the Word (1 Timothy 4:13). This is something we must contend for (1 Timothy 1:3).

The Devil is trying as much as possible to water down the sound teaching of the word; once he succeeds, the church is in trouble. Most times, the issues we have do not affect God, they only affect us. If our generation is weak in handling the word of truth, we will only produce weaker generations.

Don’t be a floating child of God; you cannot have the Holy Ghost and not understand the scripture. As a matter of fact, the Holy Ghost in you will make you understand the scripture.
