Text: Ephesians 4
Every member of the body of Christ is a gift to the body but in measure. This has nothing to do with the title. We cannot come to fullness if we don’t understand our function and roles. We are all responsible for the growth of the body. The desire of Jesus for the church is oneness. Jesus has fulfilled His part; it is left for the church to carry out her part.
1 Corinthians 12:4-31
The fivefold and the members are all members and not the head of the church. Jesus is the head. The fivefold will need the gift (charisma) for their work. The manifestation is given to everyone for profit. When God was making man, he had an image in him and He has set every member in the body as it pleases him. It is God that works in all even though the operations are diverse. God has set and placed some in the church at His prerogative. We have miracles, healings, help, government, and diversity of tongues as persons just like the fivefold were set.
You have the right to cover and desire some of these gifts even if you were not operating in them. In the realm of these gifts, you cannot exhaust them. There is an operation of God, the administration of Christ, and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the body.
1 Corinthians 12:12
Don’t pursue the gift for selfish reasons or to make money for yourself. Look for gifts to edify the church. Be zealous and not passive of spiritual gifts. Know the use and functions of these spiritual gifts as some members of the body. Pursue these gifts as you do in your skill and personal development. You need to think about these gifts (Philippians 1:8).
Romans 12:3-5
You have been given grace, use it. See grace as resources you have been given to use. Stir up that gift in you.
Hebrews 5:14
Be hungry for giftings but when they come, make sure you use them well. We must make the gift of God beautiful in this generation. Don’t sit, stir yourself up to walk in these gifts. Be hungry for what you want.
