SUNDAY SERVICE
19TH FEBRUARY, 2023
Minister: Pastor Bola Bello
Many times, we find ourselves in crises and do not have a perfect way to respond. While crises are bound to take place, Philippians 1:27-28 however gave us a perfect way to respond. Our mind must be aligned with that of Christ. Christ faced a lot of crises while in the flesh, but His responses were exceptional. We must be deliberate with our responses. Many times, crises happen when a deliberate act of wickedness is about to be perpetrated against us. Yet, no matter how intense the crisis might be, we must not be terrified. Instead, we must stand fast. When we allow ourselves to be terrified in the face of crisis, then we have lost hope in the saving power of our God.
How to respond in a time of Crisis
Mathew 16:1-3
First, we must be able to differentiate prophecies from the predictions of philosophers. Predictions are not always correct and can be overruled by prophecy. Prophecies, on the other hand, are divine declarations and unless God changes His mind, they will come to pass. Irrespective of the predictions flying about, we should not be discouraged; rather, we should hold on to what God has said about us and our predicament.
Romans 8:32, Isaiah 26:17
Crises can be a means of rising. Joseph and many others in the Bible rose in the midst of crisis. Israel as a Nation rose in the face of crises. Likewise, we can, and will survive in the midst of crises (Isaiah 26:17). It is only expected of us not to be discouraged.
