Text: Roman 6:26

Acts 1 opened with a reference to the former teachings and acts of Jesus while He was on earth. In Matthew 10:25, a disciple’s highest position is for him to attain the estate of his master. Put together, God expects us to come into the manifestations of Christ and even do more than He did. While Luke 6:40 suggests that as disciples, we cannot grow above our master, God expects however, according to Ephesians 4 for us to grow into the perfect state that Christ came into. As such, we must be trained to attain this position.

In Titus 1:5, Paul explained that one of the reasons leaders are set in the church is to train men. Without training, we would not come into understanding the knowledge of Christ mentioned in Ephesians 1:15-19. This training will influence how we react to the Scriptures. It will also help us to be grounded and rooted in the love of Christ according to Ephesians 3:17. In sum, as we grow into fullness, we must ensure that we take all the training that is required of us as disciples of Christ. We must become established in Christ and allow His word to be formed in us.
