Diorthosis 2022 – The Fullness of Christ (Sunday Service) – Rev. Odun Orioke

Diorthsis Convention Day 5

Sunday Service

Topic: In His Steps

Minister: Rev. Dr. Odun Orioke
Text: 1 John 2:6

We have been called to follow in Christ’s steps. This call is divine and we must pay attention to it. Following the steps of Christ opens us up to divine instructions that will bring us into our eternal destiny (1 Peter 2:21-25).

The question of whom to follow is one that we should always ask ourselves. It is important for us to be careful whom we follow because it will determine our destination.

While many follow culture, we as believers must understand that following culture will only make us religious and not spiritual. Culture can lure us into living an unacceptable lifestyle before God. Some follow trends: They think the majority is always right. This is not true. The majority is not always right. God does not usually deal with majorities; He deals with individuals who can influence the majorities for Him.

Mathew 4:19; John 13:13-16; 1 John 2:16; and 1 Peter 2:21 confirm how following and walking in the steps of Christ is one of the secrets to coming into fullness. Taking His yoke is a call into a deep walk with Him.

To walk in Christ’s steps, we must do the things He did. A few of those things include getting baptized, being given to prayers (Luke 6:12), loving sacrificially, forgiving our transgressors, seeking the lost, getting close to the Father (John 10:30), having regard for children (Mathew 19:14) and our parents (John 2:4), having compassion on sinners (John 4), etc.

When we follow Christ’s steps, we will enjoy the following.
– Heaven is secured for us.
– We escape lifelong mistakes that can result in regrets.
– We do not become victims of wrong teachings.
– We receive answers to our prayers.

To follow in Christ’s steps, we must do the following (Mathew 11:28-30, Luke 14:26).
– Come to Him.
– Take His yoke upon us.
– Consistently study His word.
– Love Him more than everything that is considered dear.
– Forsake all unnecessary things.

Walking in Christ’s steps is a sure way into His fullness that we so desire. We need to walk consistently and progressively with all determination so we can attain unto the fullness of Christ.
