Diorthosis Convention 2022 Day 4
Evening
Message II
Minister: Rev. Dr. Odun Orioke
Every child is expected to be like his father. In the same way, every child of God should want to be like the Father. There must be a holy quest within us to become like Jesus. The more we desire to be like Him, the easier it becomes for us to be like Him. To become like Him, God pours Himself into us in different ways such as in spiritual meetings like this.
As God’s children, we are expected to propagate the good news of what our Father is doing with us. When we choose to keep these things to ourselves, we do our Father and ourselves a disservice.
To show how special we are to God, He gave us His Spirit as a seal, labouring on us and shielding us from the devil. Thus, we are required to be obedient to each of His instructions.
Although we are God’s children, He will not do for us what we should do for ourselves. Build a robust spiritual life for yourself. Every disciple of Christ must be concerned about his spiritual life. This is what we have been called into. Our spiritual walk is warfare; it is a battle.
We need to be spiritual in our pursuit of Christ. To be spiritual simply means to be concerned about God. Do not copy any man; make Jesus your standard. To be spiritual is to be heavenly-minded. The spiritual man always seeks for his spirit, soul, and body to be in union with God.
When you follow Jesus, your life cannot be truncated. The more spiritually robust your life is, the more exploit you do for the Lord. The world is like a swing that moves to and fro, you must stay with God and be solid so you will not be polluted.
1 Corinthians 3:1-5, Galatians 6:1-3
Avoid strife by all means. The servant of God must not strive. When you fight in the Church, the Holy Spirit disappears.
1 Corinthians 2:13
Let your entire life- spirit, soul, and body focus on God. This is how to put all your affection under the influence of the word of God and the Holy Spirit that makes you spiritual. Shun carnality and don’t expose yourself unduly. Don’t only pray, watch also. Maintain a correct relationship with God, man, and material resources. Strive to please God at all times. Absolute submission to God is a demonstration of spirituality.
In your interactions with other men, you must be patient and sacrificial (Galatians 4:1). Love people like God does. To be really spiritual, you must be weaned from position, possessions, and power. See these things as what God puts under you to control not to be controlled by them. Rejoice always in the Lord and never doubt your salvation. The fullness of Christ will surely attend to you as you do these things.
