Text: Genesis 1:1

From the scriptures, we see that God is the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega. When He starts a thing, He completes it. As God’s children, we must finish whatever He has called us into by completing every task He has assigned to us.

Ecclesiastes made us know that there is a time to begin and a time to finish. Genesis says the earth was without form until God started creating and completed everything within seven days. Just as God made a move and started creating, we also began a new life at the point of our salvation.

We are journeying in Christ to lay hold on the prize promised us- eternal life. There is always a need to assess ourselves in our journey to know how we are faring.

Genesis 12:1
We have to come to a point where we hear the instructions of God and move accordingly. Abraham went ahead because He knew God would not start a thing that He could not finish. Many of us are so comfortable and relaxed with our situations that it becomes difficult to adhere to God’s instructions when they come.

Our journey with God must continue irrespective of where we find ourselves. Paul was focused on what God called him to do; so many distractions came but he maintained his focus.

John 9:4
Our finishing is in doing what God has sent us to do, not what we sent ourselves. Evangelism is one of the assignments that God has called us all into.

For every vision of God we have, we need to understand it is not enough to begin. We need to continue until we do everything that has been written concerning us.

Luke 14:28-30
Before we venture into what God has given us to do, we need to count the cost knowing how much effort we need to finish the work, what level of determination we need, and how sure we are about what we are to venture into.

Luke 9:62
We must ensure that we do not toy with the things of the Lord. Our being saved and maturing is a walk and a responsibility on our parts. If we have decided to journey with God, then we must follow through without going back. To do this, we need to allow the Spirit of God to energize and guide us.

To be sustained in our Christian journey till the end, we need to be consistent in prayers so that we can be established in the faith. We also need to associate ourselves with other believers so that we can sharpen ourselves in righteousness.

James 5:11
We need endurance and patience to finish well. Only those that endure and patiently wait end up inheriting God’s promise.

Whatsoever we have been waiting on God for will surely come. These things will come in God’s own time, not ours. Keep believing and trusting Him so that He can see you through till the end.
