THE NAME OF JESUS

MINISTER: PASTOR OLUWASEYI OSANYINBI

TEXT: ISAIAH 9:6-7

There are things that God will not negotiate; there are things that God will not compromise. If He has spoken a word, He will perform it.
In Philippians, we see that all God gave to Jesus was a name. There is something about names that is special. The names of Jesus in Isaiah are quite instructive of His assignment. His ability to bear the government on His shoulder is embedded in His name
Only those who are worthy can approach the throne of God. Like Jesus, we are meant to have both Lion and Lamb dimensions. In Revelation, Jesus was introduced as a Lion but He appeared as a Lamb.
Jesus is the Counsellor who took counsel with Himself and He is now in the position to give us counsel about life and godliness.
Jesus as the Prince of Peace shows us that we cannot know peace outside of Him.
Revelation 19:12; Acts 3:1-6
All the powers of heaven are encoded in the name of Jesus. All we need do is to latch unto it and enjoy the benefits.
It makes more sense to celebrate the risen Christ compared to the baby Jesus. It is good to celebrate the baby; it is better to celebrate the Lord.
Any time a name is mentioned, it evokes covenant. We are powerless because we have not taken time to explore Jesus’ name. We give excuses because we are afraid to fail.
We can’t compete with the world on the turf but we have something they don’t have. We have the name of Jesus that we can be proud of. In the name of Jesus, we have it all together.
John 14:13-14
Every other name is subject to the name of Jesus. We can even ask God for things that don’t exist in the name of Jesus and they will be created for us if our minds are purified and we are committed to glorifying God. We have access to the name of Jesus and we must not shy away from using it.
