The Anakites

Text: Numbers 13:17-22

Minister: Pastor Dele Olubi

The Anakites were giants dwelling on the land promised to the Israelites by God. The spies sent by Moses were scared of these men forgetting how powerful and great the God who promised them the land is. This is just like our present Christian pilgrimage. When God sends us on an assignment, we must learn to look beyond the challenges and focus our gaze on Him who has sent us.

Our understanding of the person of God and His power helps our faith grow stronger in Him. The understanding that He can help us through all he has called us into births is us the strength needed to fulfil the assignment He has given to us.

In the sojourn of the Israelites from Egypt, God overlooked their initial inconsistency but as they sojourned, He began dealing with them. Also, God begins to deal with every iota of inconsistency and instabilities that might debar us from fulfilling His divine assignment. There will always be obstacles serving as Anakites on our way, therefore, we must learn to grow as we walk with God. We must trust Him to help us.

When Satan attacks Christians, he starts with God’s word given them as instruction. The same was done to Eve. The devil understands the potency of the word and he does all he can to make it unreachable to men. This is why constantly confessing the word is paramount to all Christians. We confess the word to bring to our consciousness that which has been spoken to us. We must learn to build strength from within so that when the ‘Anakites’ confronts us, we will be able to combat them rightly.

Joshua 1:21

Your position is for the fulfilment of the purpose of God. It is not just about climbing the ladder of success but about fulfilling His purpose. When opportunities come, they are for us to use for the expansion of God’s kingdom. Wherever God is sending you, do not lose sight, focus on Him and trust Him to prosper that which He has committed unto you.
