The Kingdom Life

According to Psalm 145:9-13, the making known of God’s glorious majesty is a life on its own and this majesty of the kingdom is supposed to be reflected through the saints. A major tool in achieving this is praise. Praise is an excitement that can come from the reality of expectations that have been met. Every creature has a way of praising God but the fact is that the blessing of the Lord resides in the heart of the saints. It is not only when needs are met that the saints should praise God. The reason is that they have tasted certain things that many have not. Praise comes from within; it exudes from the fact that you remember things God has done. You remember his Majesty.

More than blessing God, the saints are to reveal the power of the kingdom. One thing that can be attractive to an unbeliever is the idea of the Kingdom of God. Unfortunately, we take the kingdom to be a futuristic concept and this has made it unsellable. When we portray the kingdom the way it is supposed to be, the glory and the might of the kingdom will be revealed.

You can’t tell others about a thing you have not tasted. Many can’t proclaim the power of the kingdom as it is because they have not tasted it. The kingdom life is different from being counted as a member of the Christian community which is what most believers emphasise. This makes the Christian life predictable; trying to live by cliché brings little or no impact. This predictable lifestyle has hindered the church from enjoying all that God has endowed her with.

Until we come into our higher calling which is not predictable to the ethereal man, we can’t make an impact as recorded in John 3:8. In essence, our lives are like a wind that should be controlled and led by the spirit.

There is another aspect of salvation as recorded in John 3:5 which suggests that individuals need another birth to gain entrance into the kingdom. Living the kingdom life is predicated upon being born by the Spirit. According to 1 Corinthians 15:50, the kingdom is incorruptible because it is moderated by the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 16:18ff stated how the church was planted and this serves as a call for us to live like kingdom people. Revelation 5:10 reveals that men are kings and princes here on earth. Linking this up with what is recorded in Revelation 1:5, we see Jesus as our Lord and the Prince of all kings. As such, we must ensure we lay hold of that kingdom since we are kings ourselves.

The Church today has concerned herself with civilian affairs as soldiers and this has taken away from her what rightfully belongs to her. The Church, as the “Ekklesia”, is meant to advance the purpose of God’s kingdom. Therefore, we need to be triggered to do more than we currently undertake.
