Profiting

Text: 2 Timothy 4:12

Minister: Pastor (Mrs) Bola Osanyinbi

As Children of God, our ultimate gain is eternal life. We must therefore seek to live out this life as admonished in 2 Timothy 2:14. If we cannot do this, our existence would be useless.

From Jeremiah 13:5-7, we could see how the girdle became useless because it was not put to use. As important as the girdle was, it was rendered good for nothing. This is likened to children of God who forget about God and fail to allow Him in their daily living.

We must make use of every instruction that has been given to us by God so that our lives might be profitable. From Acts 9:16, we can see how Saul (Paul), despite not knowing much about the gospel at the time, committed himself to the instructions given to him. He walked according to the leading of the Spirit and embraced all men sent to him (e.g. Ananias and Barnabas).

We must know and understand that only one person cannot complete the work of salvation in our lives. In the case of Saul, Barnabas and Ananias were needed in fulfilling his assignment.

Paul, in turn, did a lot in edifying the Church; walking in the fear of the Lord (Act 9:28); helping in multiplying the Church and helping unprofitable servants become profitable (Philemon 1:10-11).

We must pay attention to the admonition of Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:12; look critically at his disposition: how he was able to live a profitable life; and imbibe such.
