Our world today is heavily disadvantaged because we are living by time and not by the kingdom. This is the reason we have no peace. Until we allow God to be God, we will never know peace. What Jesus came to establish here on earth is not a church system but a kingdom. This understanding will help us to know what constituted the temptation of man in the first place.
The human kingdom is a counterfeit of the heavenly kingdom. The only kingdom that has a little shadow of the heavenly kingdom is the Davidic kingdom.
One of the key elements that constitute a kingdom is dominion. Everywhere we speak about the kingdom, there must be element of dominion. God’s intention for man according to Genesis 1:26-28 was for him to dominate. This singular thing was what the Devil came to destroy and take the dominion away from man but when Jesus came, He took back that dominion from Satan and made it available for man again.
Job 25:2 further establishes that one of the attributes of the Kingdom is dominion and fear. God in Job 38:1-10 gave a graphic illustration of His attribute and power. Jesus during His earthly ministry also demonstrated His dominion over nature, diseases and all sorts of illnesses and that was because He carries the authority of a King.
The throne is also another attribute of a kingdom according to Acts 2:30. Only Kings sit on thrones. Throne signifies dominion. Christians comparison to salt and light of the world demonstrates dominion. The salt demonstrates dominion over other ingredients just as light demonstrates dominion over darkness.
After the fall, God was in search of people through whom He could penetrate the earthly realm again just as Satan penetrated through the serpent. This was His purpose for raising Israel. In expressing our dominion as believers, we are not supposed to dominate the brethren rather, the gentiles. In the body, the people who are given so much authority are people who are willing to serve.
Psalm 114:2
Over time, Satan had been building his pseudo-kingdom. This is one reason God had to command the Israelites to wipe out those kingdoms. Israel was to be the battle axe in pulling down those kingdoms established by Satan and set up the prototype of God’s kingdom but along the line, they thwarted the plan (Jeremiah 51:20-24).
In Daniel 4:3,34, it is established that God’s dominion is forever. Further in 7:26&27, it is established that dominion will eventually be restored to the people of God and it will be with them forever.
In Colossians 1:16-17, the dominion of Christ is further explained. Of all the creation of Jesus, none is like Him.
Revelation 11:15-17
All that is going on on earth will come to an end when Jesus takes His power back and take dominion. The primary thing to exercise dominion over is sin and death. When obedience is fulfilled, satan and his angels are in trouble. Don’t become a slave to the elements of this world, take dominion. Don’t forget that this kingdom is about dominion.
