Previously, it was established that the primary reason for which power is given is for us to be witnesses (Acts 1:8). The emphasis was on witnessing through teaching and preaching. We will continue in the exposition on the power of the kingdom in other areas. One paramount truth is that the power of the kingdom that we have received is something to be seen; the power is never hidden.
1 Corinthians 4:14
There is power in the kingdom and it is important that you know that the power is not about you, but about the kingdom.
The power of the kingdom is demonstrative. Power is not known until it is seen; no one knows you carry power unless you demonstrate it. If we claim that we possess power, then it has to be demonstrated and seen.
You need the power of the kingdom manifesting in you because you will be confronted. The devil has his own manifestations; he has things to show you. Therefore, you must have the power to confront him. From the day you surrendered your life to Christ, you had an opponent and standing up to be a witness will bring more opponents.
1 King 19:19-21
When the mantle fell on Elisha, he followed Elijah and ministered unto him. One of the secrets to power is service. The disciples ministered to Jesus and Joshua ministered to Moses. If you move with people that have power and serve them, power will also rest on you. There is a great deal in service; be ready to serve. Power is not just given to people, there are attributes that attract power and service is one of them. If you desire power, you must be ready to serve.
2 King 2 reveals Elisha as a focused follower, he was not distracted. You also should not be distracted. Elisha knew what he wanted and he was focused on receiving it. Power does not come cheap. You need to have the right attitude and heart posture to receive it. Do you even know what you are looking for? Many do not know, hence, they cannot make specific requests and so they do not receive power.
One final thing, to be a carrier of God’s power, you need to pay attention to the pattern of God’s dealing in your life.
