Generating inner strength to overcome adversities

Pastor Oluwaseyi Osanyinbi

It is not wise for one to live without eternity in view because when we make decisions, we need to make them in view of eternity.

After Solomon’s overview of life, he made a concise conclusion to the whole essence of living, that we are all to fear the Lord and keep His commandments.

[biblegateway passage=”Jeremiah 12:1-3″ display=”Jeremiah 12:1-3″]

Therein is the classical prayer of the today church for our enemies, which is for the Lord to judge the wicked and our enemies seeing that we always assume that the Holy Ghost is an assassin. We have seen many wicked men on earth that have come to assume that no one sees what they do.

Despite that, we do not have a right to be bitter, anger and revenge. After Jeremiah told God about his current predicament, God told him that his current problem is likened to battling with footmen, and if he could not cope with footmen, how would he be able to now cope with horsemen.

[biblegateway passage=”Proverbs 24:10″ display=”Proverbs 24:10″]; [biblegateway passage=”Deuteronomy 20:8″ display=”Deuteronomy 20:8″];

The measure of strength is how well one responds in the days of adversities. Fear is a spirit and it is contagious. This is one reason why God told Gideon to make an announcement to his soldiers that those who were scared amongst them should go home.

Faith overcomes fear.  This is what the little boy called David demonstrated with the giant called Goliath.  He demonstrated internal strength called faith to confront the adversity that others did not have.  Faith is internal strength that overcomes the strength of man.

Another situation in the earth needed a resolve for these men not to compromise. This has to do with enduring as a result of internal strength. This strength is built up by the decision we make every time.

[biblegateway passage=”Ephesians 3:13″ display=”Ephesians 3:13″]

Fainting comes up here again, and Paul sincerely desires that we faint not. For that cause, Paul bowed his knees to the Father that we be strengthened with might by His spirit in our inner man. Ephesians 3.14-16, all without exception need an internal strength.  Internal strength is the wisdom and riches of Christ in us.  The generation of Daniel did not compromise despite Nebuchadnezzar’s threat of death through his physical strength, but these men, showed the inner strength to overcome.  The generation of Daniel are men of similar passion, they generate the inner strength through faith to subdue mountain, fought lion and some have their children back.

We all need this kind of strength, the might and the power which is within.  It is this, that makes us to walk in love.  It can cause the Holy Spirit to do the unusual. He is the strength of your life and it can make a difference in us.
