JOHN 1:6(KJV): “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.”;
1 JOHN 1:1(KJV): “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life”;
HEBREWS 1:3(KJV): “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high”
John said his purpose was to bear witness to a light that we were meant to believe. Believing in that Light is necessary for Sonship. Previously, we discussed the provisions of God for coming into Sonship. They include the Word, Light and Life. We understand that God always speaks; as such we must always listen. God can reveal his mind to us so that we can align our lives to it by obeying. He can also give us instructions and any disobedience displayed is unbelief.
Change cannot be seen by just listening, you must do what you have been hearing. Light speaks about direction and understandings. And this light is meant to produce a life in us that is different from biological life. One can be in the church and still be worldly by the way he responds to God. The kingdom of God is different from the kingdom of the earth. Many of us cannot think beyond entering heaven. The gospel presents us with a life that is not so attractive to a worldly man.
We can see that Jesus did everything he preached, that is why He could be called the word of Life. Another set of provisions of God to help us come into Sonship is Grace and Truth. What we have received from Jesus is more of grace and truth. Truth talks about a person contrary to what humans think. Many people carry truths in their heads but never in their hearts. The father is the most accurate truth and Jesus Christ is the exact representation of the Father. We have received this grace from the father through Jesus that we might come into truth ourselves.
MATTHEW 11:29(KJV): “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Grace is not unmerited favour because God cannot give grace to someone who does not have a lowly and humble heart. Grace can only come to people who have learnt to relinquish control over their lives. Jesus said that we should learn of him as He is meek and lowly. Meekness is not gentleness, but ability to do what we have learned. Grace is meant for doing. Therefore, we have no excuse not to make it at the end because grace has been given unto us. We should never come to a point where we cannot come to God for help. God is willing to keep giving; we must keep coming. We cannot exhaust God’s grace. We must never develop shame with God, so we should keep asking for grace and we would keep receiving.
